The Vocational Training Centre for Youth is implemented by Community Development Society (CDS) with the support of IndiGoReach to improve livelihood opportunities for unemployed youth in Churachandpur District, Manipur. The project provides employment-linked vocational training in the Hospitality and Food & Beverage (F&B) sector, with a particular focus on youth from economically disadvantaged and conflict-affected families. The intervention aims to strengthen employability through industry-relevant skills, recognized certification placement support, enabling young people to secure sustainable employment and contribute to the economic well-being of their families.

SIGNING OF AGREEMENT BETWEEEN INDIGO CSR AND COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT SOCIETY
The project was initiated in response to the increasing unemployment among youth and the limited availability of quality skill development opportunities within the district. Although the hospitality industry continues to generate employment across the country, many young people in the region have been unable to access these opportunities due to the absence of accredited training facilities, inadequate technical skills limited exposure to the industry. The prolonged conflict in Manipur has further affected education, livelihoods employment prospects, making skill development an important pathway for economic recovery and social inclusion.
The training programme follows a structured approach that combines classroom learning with practical training, personality development, communication skills, basic Hindi language instruction, workplace ethics career guidance. Exposure visits, guest lectures, mock interviews continuous mentoring are integrated into the curriculum to strengthen the confidence and job readiness of trainees. Upon successful completion of the course, participants undergo assessment through the Tourism and Hospitality Skill Council (THSC) and receive industry-recognized certification. Placement support is provided through partnerships with hospitality establishments across India.
Community mobilization and awareness activities are carried out through educational institutions, community meetings, social media platforms direct engagement with young people and their families. These activities promote awareness of the programme, encourage enrolment strengthen community confidence in vocational education as a viable pathway to employment.
Since the commencement of the project, the training centre has recorded steady progress in trainee enrolment, course completion, certification employment placement. Graduates have secured employment in reputed hotels across different states of India, while others continue to receive placement assistance according to their individual career plans and readiness for employment. The project also provides follow-up support to monitor the progress of placed candidates and facilitate their transition into the workplace.
Through this initiative, Community Development Society seeks to improve access to decent employment for unemployed youth, strengthen household livelihoods promote economic resilience among vulnerable communities. The project contributes to national skill development priorities by creating opportunities for young people to acquire market-oriented skills and pursue sustainable livelihood options through formal employment in the hospitality sector.
