Industry Experience Sharing Session for VTCY Trainees

As part of the Vocational Training Centre for Youth (VTCY) project implemented by Community Development Society (CDS) with support from IndiGo CSR, an industry experience-sharing session was organised for the Hospitality – Food & Beverage trainees at CDS Skill Centre, Lamka, Churachandpur, on 15 September 2026.

The session was organised to give trainees an opportunity to learn directly from experienced hospitality professionals and to understand the realities of working in the industry. Ms. Ngaihpi, who has nine years of experience as a Hairdresser on cruise liners and  Ms. Kimneu, who has ten years of experience at the Front Desk on cruise liners, interacted with the trainees and shared their professional experiences.

During the interaction, the guest speakers spoke about their career journeys, workplace experiences, professional discipline, communication with guests, adapting to different working environment  and also the opportunities and challenges of working in the hospitality and cruise industry. They also shared practical advice on preparing for employment and building a successful career in the service sector.

The interaction gave the trainees an opportunity to ask questions and learn from the first-hand experiences of professionals who have worked in an international work environment. Such sessions help trainees connect their classroom and practical training with actual workplace expectations and prepare them for employment after completing their training.

Under the VTCY project, CDS regularly invites professionals from relevant industries to interact with the trainees.
