45th NABARD Foundation Day Observed

Community Development Society (CDS) observed the 45th Foundation Day of the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) on 15 July 2026 at CDS Resource Centre, Pearsonmun Vengsak, Lamka, Churachandpur.

The programme was chaired by Mr. Lianbiaksang, Programme Manager, CDS. Mr. Paubiakmang Ngaihte, DDM, NABARD, addressed the gathering and highlighted the various programmes and initiatives being undertaken by NABARD for rural development and the welfare of communities. He also shared that NABARD continues to work with and support Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs), Self Help Groups (SHGs) and other community-based institutions engaged in development activities.

As part of the programme, weaving machines were distributed to selected beneficiaries under an ongoing NABARD-funded project being implemented by CDS. The support is aimed at strengthening livelihood opportunities and helping beneficiaries take up income-generating activities.

A financial literacy session was also conducted by Mr. Hauminlian Neihsial, Centre Manager, and Mr. L. Kapzasuan, Field Coordinator, from the Centre for Financial Literacy (CRISIL). The participants were sensitised on financial literacy, savings, insurance and social security schemes. Enrolment under the Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY) and other relevant schemes was also facilitated during the programme.

Mr. Khamsanglian, Agripreneur and Master Trainer, conducted a session on agriculture and shared practical information and guidance with the participants on farming and livelihood-related activities.

The Foundation Day programme brought together rural development, livelihood support, financial awareness and agriculture-related learning, reflecting the continuing efforts of NABARD and CDS to strengthen livelihood opportunities and financial inclusion among local communities.
