CDS Skill Centre Holds 4th Valedictory Ceremony for Hospitality – Food & Beverages Trainees

Community Development Society (CDS) held the 4th Valedictory Ceremony for Hospitality – Food & Beverages trainees on 21 July 2026 at 2:00 PM at CDS Infotech, Pearsonmun, Lamka.

The programme was chaired by Mr. John Biangtung, Trainer. Ms. Lamcy Haokip, Centre Coordinator, Vocational Training Centre for Youth, delivered the Keynote Address and presented a brief report on the Hospitality – Food & Beverages training and the progress of the 4th Batch.

Mr. Ginlunsiam Thawmte, Manager, Providence Guest House, presented certificates and flowers to the graduating trainees. Pastor Dr. Tunson Tunglut offered a thanksgiving prayer and prayed for the trainees as they prepared to begin the next stage of their careers. Mr. Lianzamung Tonsing, President, CDS, also addressed the gathering, while Ms. Jenny Manlun spoke on behalf of the 4th Batch and shared her experience. Mr. Bobby Gangte, Trainer, concluded the programme with a Vote of Thanks.

In her address, Ms. Lamcy Haokip shared that the Hospitality – Food & Beverages training is a 45-day employment-linked training, with placement opportunities provided to trainees after completion. She informed the gathering that 46 trainees had initially enrolled in the 4th Batch. Due to various personal reasons, 39 trainees were able to complete the training and graduate.

Of the 39 trainees who completed the 4th Batch, 19 accepted placement opportunities and have already joined their respective hotels. While placement opportunities were intended for all eligible trainees, some chose not to accept placements due to their individual preferences and personal circumstances. Some trainees are also yet to attain the required age for employment and will be supported with placement opportunities once they become eligible.

The trainees were encouraged to make good use of the knowledge, practical skills and discipline acquired during the Hospitality – Food & Beverages training when they enter the hospitality industry. They were also reminded that working in the hospitality sector would give them opportunities to serve and interact with people from different backgrounds and were encouraged to maintain professionalism in their workplaces.

CDS Skill Centre was started in 2025 with the support of IndiGo CSR to provide employment-linked skill training opportunities to youth. With the completion of the 4th Batch, around 110 youths have completed Hospitality – Food & Beverages training, with about 90 percent of trainees seeking placement having secured employment in 4-star and 5-star hotels across different cities in India.

The Hospitality – Food & Beverages training is conducted batch-wise. The 5th Batch is preparing for assessment and completion of training, while subsequent batches are continuing their training. Admission for the 7th Batch has also been completed.

The Hospitality – Food & Beverages training is funded by IndiGo CSR and provided free of cost. No training fee is charged. Trainees are provided with training materials, food and refreshments during the training period, along with placement support after successful completion of the training.
