Community Development Society (CDS) established the Community Resource Centre at Convention English High School, Thanlon, on 28 September 2016, to provide educational support to children in the village. The Centre was inaugurated by Pastor K. Sonlian, EBCC Thanlon, in the presence of school authorities, community leaders, parents and CDS members. The first evening study class began on the same day with 30 students.

The Centre was started to help children who had limited facilities for studying at home, lacked proper guidance or needed additional support in their studies. Since its establishment, **406 children have benefited from the Centre** through evening study classes and other educational activities.

During the school session, students attended evening classes for two to three hours under the guidance of teachers engaged by CDS. The teachers assisted students with their homework, explained difficult subjects and provided additional attention to those who needed help. The Centre also offered a suitable environment where children could study together and develop regular study habits.

The evening study programme has helped students improve their understanding of school subjects and perform better in their examinations. At one stage, 35 students regularly attended the programme and received academic guidance from the teachers.

Apart from regular studies, the Centre also organised recreational activities and movie sessions during weekends to encourage interaction and provide opportunities for learning beyond the classroom.

CDS supported the Centre by providing monthly honorariums for teachers, library books, a television, power backup facilities and student awards. Contributions from students also helped meet the expenses of engaging two teachers. Awards were presented to recognise students' achievements and encourage them to do better in their studies.

Over the years, the Community Resource Centre has become an important source of educational support for children in Thanlon, particularly those from families with limited resources. Through this initiative, CDS has helped create better learning opportunities for children and supported their educational development.
