A one-year programme known as the Resilient Lives Initiative is being implemented by the Community Development Society (CDS) in partnership with the Young Women’s Christian Association of India (YWCA), commencing on 9 February 2026. Through this initiative, livelihood and educational support is being provided to internally displaced and conflict-affected families in Churachandpur District, Manipur, with more than 200 women and youth expected to benefit.

Livelihood opportunities are being provided to women in Buallian, Panglian, D. Leikot, Mualpi and Sumtukphai through activities such as backstrap weaving, mushroom cultivation, moodah making, garment stitching and retail. Through these activities, women are encouraged to make use of their existing skills, develop additional skills and engage in income-generating activities to support their families. Particular attention is given to helping women restore their livelihoods, improve household income and become more economically independent.

Alongside livelihood support, free coaching and educational guidance are being provided to young people preparing for various competitive examinations. As part of this programme, the CDS Coaching Centre was formally inaugurated on 3 March 2026 at Hope Baptist Academy, Rengkai, Churachandpur. A total of 30 students were enrolled in each of the first and second batches.

To strengthen examination preparation, online and offline mock tests are conducted twice a month at the CDS examination centre. Interactive sessions, motivational talks and career guidance programmes are also organised, with professionals and government officials invited to share their experiences and provide guidance on competitive examinations, career choices and employment opportunities. Psychosocial support and intercessory prayer are also provided to encourage students and help them remain motivated throughout their preparation.

CDS and YWCA continue to support women and young people affected by displacement and conflict by providing opportunities for livelihood development, education and personal growth. The programme aims to help affected families restore their livelihoods, strengthen their economic stability and work towards a more secure and self-reliant future.
