Community Development Society (CDS) held the 5th Valedictory Ceremony for Hospitality – Food & Beverages trainees on 28 August 2026 at 10:30 AM at CDS Skill Centre, Synod House, Hill Town, Lamka.

The programme was chaired by Mr. John Biangtung, Trainer. Ms. Lamcy Haokip, Centre Coordinator, Vocational Training Centre for Youth, delivered the Keynote Address and presented a brief report on the Hospitality – Food & Beverages training and the progress of the 5th Batch.

Mr. Stephen Vaiphei, Entrepreneur, presented certificates and flowers to the 27 trainees who successfully completed the training. Rev. Pastor K. Mawia Gangte, GBA, offered a thanksgiving prayer and prayed for the trainees as they prepared to move forward in their careers.

Mr. Lianzamung Tonsing, President, CDS, also addressed the gathering, while Ms. Ruthi Chinglun spoke on behalf of the 5th Batch. Mr. T. Lallianmang, Vice President, CDS, concluded the programme with a Vote of Thanks.

In her address, Ms. Lamcy Haokip shared that the Hospitality – Food & Beverages training is a 45-day employment-linked training, with placement support provided to trainees after completion. She informed the gathering that 29 trainees had initially enrolled in the 5th Batch. Of these, 27 successfully completed the training, while two could not complete it due to personal reasons.

Placement interviews for trainees who are yet to secure employment are continuing, and efforts are being made to connect them with suitable employment opportunities in the hospitality industry.

Addressing the graduating trainees, Mr. Lianzamung Tonsing encouraged them to remain hardworking, disciplined and committed as they begin their professional careers. He reminded them that success at work requires patience and perseverance and encouraged them to carry out their responsibilities sincerely while keeping faith in God.

He also encouraged trainees who would be working in different cities across India to remain connected with their communities. Wherever they are posted, he encouraged them to connect with nearby community organisations, welfare associations or fellowships and take an active part in community life.

CDS Skill Centre was started in 2025 with the support of IndiGo CSR to provide employment-linked skill training opportunities to youth. With the completion of the 5th Batch, 137 youths have completed Hospitality – Food & Beverages training, with around 90 percent of trainees seeking placement having secured employment in 4-star and 5-star hotels across different cities in India.

The Hospitality – Food & Beverages training is conducted batch-wise. Following the completion of the 5th Batch, the 6th Batch is approaching assessment and completion of training, while the 7th Batch is currently undergoing training. Admission for the 8th Batch is also underway.

The Hospitality – Food & Beverages training is funded by IndiGo CSR and provided free of cost. No training fee is charged. Trainees are provided with training materials, food and refreshments during the training period, along with placement support after successful completion of the training.
